Losing Simon, society loses the kindness and understanding that Simon gives to the world. If Lord of the Flies was expanded to the size of the world, the world would become utter chaos after the deaths of such people. Piggy and Simon were both friends of Ralph, and Ralph should have been weeping for both when Golding shows him only weeping for Simon.
