Dark Side
Mark Twain once said "everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows to anyone," and it is obvious that he believed it to be true because of his examples of it in "The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg."

Mark Twain clearly showed his belief in his statement in "The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg." I think greed and dishonesty are more common than they are believed to be, and Twain apparently felt the same way. He showed corruption in the place that was supposed to be incorruptible, greed in the more well-off families, and dishonesty in the clergy, the places one would least expect to find them.
