Maturation through Military Life
It was a rainy day in January 1982. I was married, with a child on the
way and working for Flour Daniel Construction Company in Wilmington,
North Carolina. I was riding home after being rained out from working
another day, and decided to stop in to see the Army recruiter. The recruiter
experience was not new to me since I had gone through a preview for the
Marines the previous month.

self confidence, self esteem and leadership
skills to continue as a productive employee in the civilian work force. During my
multiple assignments, I learned through experience, how to make effective
decisions under extreme conditions. My travels in the military exposed me to
multiple cultural climates increasing my knowledge of the global status and
environment. Military combat experiences taught me the value of life and
leadership skills that could never be learned in any other environment.
