will never be able to achieve his ideal, he kills himself. Like Oedipus, this could have been viewed as taking an easy way out. Like Oedipus, he will not have to ever deal with his failures again. Both Oedipus and Willy are unable to escape their fates, and once they become conscious to this idea, the commit these heinous acts against themselves as some sick way to alleviate some of the pain that they caused.
