For every good thing there is a bad one. When speaking of love, it's oppisite and the monster that gnaws at our hearts is jealousy. But what exactly is jealousy? What Francois meant is that jealousy is not love, but pride, arrogance, vanity, lack of self-esteem, and trust. Iago's jealousy commences with Othello's decision to make Cassio Liuetenant. This is seen in Act 1 Scene 1 lines 8-17, "Despise me if I do not....... Nonsuits my mediators." Iagos' revenge sparks of this and he plans to use Desdemona and Othellos' sullibility. In Act 2 scene 3,pg 339, Iago states, "His soul is so enfettered to her love...... How am I then a villian."
