Guilt itself is a very strong and all encompassing feeling. It can result, in positive acts, or just as easily however, into negative deeds. In the case of Macbeth these negative deeds turned into guilt. This is what happened throughout the play and this is also why the play has been called, The Tragedy of Macbeth.
