when it was published is more easily understood now that I've read the book and seen Vonnegut's antiwar views. The biographical aspect of the book added to its effectiveness along with educating the reader about the firebombing of Dresden. Events such as that and wars will never cease to exist because they are a part of human nature, they are a part of time, and they are a part of life as we know it.
