To do this they injected breast cancer cells into mice in an effort to try to discover how to block the cells from metastasizing. They then in! jected the mice with antibodies that blocked the receptor from binding with the chemokine, preventing the metastasis. The scientists hope that their research in mice will eventually lead to further research in humans.
