Line 24's glass inagery is expounded throughout the last stanza. Domnme's attitude is that once destroyed by love one can never wholly love again. in line 25 he states that even though his heart is broken and love is over, he is still left with the painful memories because they will not jsut disappear. ATherefore these ragged, unitede pieces remain in his heart never to reproduce the love once had, but only less extravagant love.
