Meryowitz would see this strategic political alliance as detrimental to any socially commanding regime. Political campaigns create inquiry from the media and the public in a democratic system. As political policy and motives become the focus of massive public interest Meryowitz would argue that public pressure would extract such deceptive policies in the arena of public mediated debate. In turn, corporate backers would be exposed as the mass media bites the hand that feeds it.
