It is evident, that John Proctor is the tragic hero. This is demonstrated by his relentless crusagede to free his wife, expose the children as frauds, and refusal to confessing to witchcraft. John Proctor illustrated all of the characteristics of a tragic hero and Arthur Miller used him as the example simply because he had so much to lose: life, love, and status.
