Were the Salem witch trials in 1692 inevitable? After reading The Crucible, I believe that they were inevitable, due to the religious beliefs of the Puritans who lived there, the misfortunes they suffered, and the transgressions that they felt their neighbors had committed against them.

The sad part of the Salem Witch Trials was the fact that many innocent people were put to death over the fanciful stories of a few young girls. The true heroes were those accused of witchcraft but who refused to identify more people in order to save themselves. They knew they would die for their silence. These people were unbelievably strong.
