William Carlos Williams is a unique free-verse poet. In venturing away from the standard uses of rhythm and rhyme he has developed his own style. His use of unsophisticated language provides the sense of simplicity depicted in the artwork he writes about. His use of structure, and failure to use elements of rhythm and rhyme provide the avenue to fully interpret and understand his poetry.
