The Big Nurse, as hard as she tried, lost her rigged game of control and is the clear loser in the round of the game displayed in the book. We cannot say she lost for good, the game is never-ending and the other patients can only hold out their victory by remembering what McMurphy instilled in them. McMurphy gave them hope and a sense of self.
