J.R.R. Tolkien was one of the most beloved writers of all time. His works of
art have often been said to surpass everything in literature with the exception of
the Bible. In his novels the reader is kept captivated with story after story and
enthralled by the mythical wonder and greatness of his books. For my independent
study project I have chosen to study his famous novel, The Lord of the Rings.

the ring. We also see a Christlike figure in the great warrior Boromir who, though
he is not a peaceful man, gives his life so that Merry and Pippin may be spared from
death. So these are a few of the very basic themes that I have found thus far in
my study of The Fellowship of the Ring. Indeed, I believe there are many more
themes to be found other than that already found.
