you stand alone. When Scout starts to fight people who call her father a nigger lover, he tries to show her that courage is to stand firm in your beliefs and not let others affect you.
Through characters such as Atticus and Mrs. Dubose and also through the lessons that Scout and Jem learn, I saw that courage is a very important idea in the book and that it is very applicable to society today.
