But even if none of these individuals ever existed, we know, without doubt, that the figure of "Merlin" exists. We see him in Geoffrey's poems, in Welsh manuscripts, even in television specials. The character of Merlin- the triumphant hero and mystical prophet - will always exist in our literature and in our minds.
